Longboard Mk. V - Splinter

“Lets take our time with this one…”

Longboard Mk. V - Splinter

The purpose of this project is to make a longboard that is far more refined with all weather capabilities. I have achieved this by having an on board charging system, as well as wire runs embedded within the deck. Furthermore, this board is made out of the strongest hardwoods instead of plywood. This makes it far easier to look at, but far harder to build. I built this project over the course of 9 months. I wanted to really make something I was proud of. Since I was stuck at home in quarantine, I had no access to a CNC machine to carve out the deck, so I had to do everything by hand. I custom made the battery pack, trucks, motor mounts, deck, enclosures, and wiring harness. The only store bought parts are the motors and the motor speed controller. The result is unrivaled stability at high speeds, strong breaks, surprising maneuverability, unmatched torque, and (so far) unparalleled reliability. Since I have no car, this does all my heavy lifting - I get groceries, go to class, and deliver food on this longboard. I can do all this through any weather - and I am proud to say that the board performs wonderfully in all conditions. This board has a top speed of 33 mph, and a range of 21 miles. I have stretched the range to 30 miles when cruising at 20 mph.
